Our Work

Our organization is dedicated to showing up where the community needs us most. We design and implement projects that respond directly to the unique needs of each community, ensuring our work is meaningful and impactful. By creating safe, welcoming spaces, we give youth the opportunity to flourish—building confidence, honing their skills, and connecting with peers. These spaces also spark creativity and collaboration, empowering young people to develop ideas and initiatives that uplift their neighborhoods and make a lasting difference.

Boston Paper Project

The Boston Paper Project: Our Why
The Boston Paper Project was born from a simple, powerful realization: children can create joy and community with very little, but they deserve so much more. From watching kids play with a crumbled candy box in place of a soccer ball in Cabo Verde, to seeing the perseverance of youth in Boston’s neighborhoods, our founder understood that access—whether to sports, safe spaces, or opportunities—is a game-changer.

Inspired by stories like that of Walter Tavares, a 7’3” Cabo Verdean who didn’t have access to basketball until age 17 yet went on to play professionally, our mission became clear: create spaces and opportunities that empower youth to dream, grow, and thrive.

Through collaborations with local organizations like the Martin Richard Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester, and support from leaders in Cabo Verde, the Paper Project seeks to build sports courts and community spaces that provide accessibility, growth, and hope for children who might otherwise be left behind. Every game, every practice, and every moment in these spaces is a chance to build confidence, skills, and community—turning small victories into lifelong possibilities.
